Building open-source and affordable wolf howling detectors
Help us design and build acoustic detectors that can locate wolves and coyotes in the wild!
Wildlabs.net is an open forum for environmental technologists. Are you interested in discussing how technological innovation can help wildlife research?
We want build a large
number of affordable detector devices that can be deployed in the field and will autonomously report detected howls back to a base station, where the locations of the howling animals will be calculated using triangulation. The aim is to build freely-available open source hardware and software designs that can be used not just for wolf research, but also for other endangered species.
